Dora Yuemin Cheng

Dora Yuemin Cheng, a playwright and theatre artist, lives and works in Berlin and her native city of Nanjing. She was born and grew up in China, graduating in Drama and Literature from the Shanghai Theatre Academy and then completing her Master’s in the Visual Language of Performance at Wimbledon College of Art with an international scholarship for Asian students. She writes in German, English and Chinese.

In her multilingual and multidimensional plays, she consistently focusses on the development and re-definition of female and queer self-awareness and on the shifting boundaries between different definitions of realities through philosophical means. Her plays have been read or performed in China, Great Britain, Germany, Austria and Denmark.
