
Composer and musician Thomas Meadowcroft, who was born in 1972 in Canberra/Australia, has lived in Berlin since 1998. In 1994 he studied with George Crumb and Brian Ferneyhough in the USA and took master classes with Salvatore Sciarrino and Walter Zimmermann.
His compositions have been premiered at a number of European music festivals. He began collaborating with HUNGER&SEIDE, a Munich performance collective, in 2006. Thomas Meadowcroft was a grant recipient at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles in 2005, as well as at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. In 2007/08 he was artist-in-residence at Peggy Glanville Hicks Composers’ House in Sydney. On occasion, Meadowcroft makes use of such objects as sports tools, canned laughter and automobile noises in his work; his music has been described as “nerve torture” and “dreamy post-rock”.
