Daniel Cremer was born in Mönchengladbach in 1983. He works as an author, director and solo performer in various artistic genres and disciplines, most recently at the Junges Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and the HAU Eins theatre in Berlin, as well as at Berlinische Galerie and nGbK, Berlin’s Technical University and the Viadrina University of Frankfurt/Oder. His performances make use of strategies like simulation, reenactment, travesty, and especially the liquefaction and distortion of language. Under the label of Talking straight, he has processed coaching seminars, conferences, religious rituals and guided walks through cities and museums, in broken English, false German and “Fremdsprache” (foreign language), a secret language which he developed. “TALKING STRAIGHT Festival” was created at the Maxim Gorki Theatre’s Studio Я in January 2014.
