Torsten Holger Schlopsnies, aka Todosch, was born in Hanover in 1966. He studied sculpture with Horst Hellinger. In his large-format stone sculptures, he amalgamates contemporary Manga styles with those of protohistoric monumental sculpture. On paper, he developed a drawing technique that focuses on “decentralized attention”. An exploration of the experience of time is essential to his creative work. At the same time, he is active as a solo musician and a member of various groups: He accompanies his own singing on guitar, banjo and cello. Schlopsnies has developed his own phonetic language, in which he sings. His work has been shown internationally, most recently in Tehran and at the Casa de Serralves in Porto.
