İpek Seyalıoğlu’s first theatre play “Bakır Kalkan” (Copper Shield) was published in 2003 and awarded a literary prize. Her passion for the performing arts led her to professionally pursue acting. After attending Studio Players in Istanbul, she went on to deepen her understanding of performance by participating in international theatre workshops, where she met and later collaborated with international theatre artists. Her artistic aspirations, academic teaching at Boğaziçi University, alongside a strong belief in freedom of expression urged her to move to Berlin in 2022 through an MRI grant. This was followed by the Weltoffenes Berlin fellowship in 2023 where she premiered with her solo “Notes on the Tip of My Tongue: The Contemporary Art of Survival” at t.a.k Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg. İpek Seyalıoğlu’s next theatre play, “Mourning Cotton Flowers: An X-Berg Poem”, funded by Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Culture Funds also premiered at t.a.k in 2025. Currently, besides performing in various venues and collaborating with a range of artists, she is holding the Berliner work scholarship for her poetry and working on her next stage piece.
