Hezarfen Ensemble
Since it was founded in 2010, Istanbul-based Hezarfen Ensemble has been busy leaving a substantial mark on Turkish musical life. It has presented a number of works by Turkish as well as international composers, among them premieres commissioned by the ensemble itself. The ensemble was a guest at the European Capital of Culture Ruhr.2010 and at the Rotterdam Operadagen in 2012. The formation’s musicians have worked with Irish ensemble Yurodny, Berlin ensemble Adpater and Dutch ensemble VocaalLAB, as well as with conductors such as Furrer, Lucas Vis and Gergely Madaras. The Hezarfen Ensemble offers young Turkish composers an important forum and was declared the best chamber music ensemble in 2012 by Turkish magazine Andante.
