
The German–Italian tenor Attilio Glaser captivates audiences and critics alike with the authenticity of his interpretations and the warmth of his vocal colour.
His recent engagements include Don José (Carmen) in Dresden and Brussels, Ismaele (Nabucco), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), Erik (Der fliegende Holländer) in Hamburg, as well as the title roles in Idomeneo at the Theater an der Wien and in Les contes d’Hoffmann in Strasbourg. Further highlights include Max (Der Freischütz) at the Bregenz Festival, Eine florentinische Tragödie with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Tonkunstler Orchestra.
In addition, Attilio Glaser has appeared in Milan as Narraboth (Salome) and Da Ud (Die ägyptische Helena), at the Vienna State Opera as the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), in Venice as Alfredo (La traviata), at the Edinburgh International Festival as Walther (Tannhäuser), in Amsterdam (Walther, Narraboth), as well as at Oper Frankfurt and the Bühnen Bern as Idomeneo.
For his role debut as Werther in Massenet’s opera of the same name, he was nominated in 2019 for the Austrian Music Theatre Award as “Best Male Leading Role”. He has since sung the role in Frankfurt and Zurich. In 2021, Glaser made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as the Daland's steersman (Der fliegende Holländer) and was re invited in 2022 and 2023, when he also performed Froh (Das Rheingold) and Walther.
Alongside his operatic work, the tenor is deeply committed to concert singing. His repertoire includes the central tenor roles in works by, among others, Bach, Beethoven, Dvořák, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Mahler, Mozart and Verdi. In this context, he has appeared at the Beijing Music Festival, the Palau de la Música, the Holland Festival, the Max-Reger-Tage, the Brucknerfest Linz, the Mahler Festival Leipzig, the Rheingau Musik Festival and the Salzburg Easter Festival. He has also collaborated with leading orchestras such as the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Münchener Kammerorchester, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
Since the 2015/16 season, Attilio Glaser has been a member of the ensemble of Deutsche Oper Berlin, joining initially as a scholarship holder of the Förderkreis. There he has celebrated major successes in roles including Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Macduff (Macbeth), Gabriele Adorno, Ismaele, Alfredo, the Duke of Mantua, Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Froh, Walther, Erik, Lohengrin, Parsifal, Narraboth, Don José, Rodolfo (La Bohème), Pong (Turandot) and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly).
