Pınar Karabulut was born in 1987. She studied Performing Arts, History of Art and Modern German Literature at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. She has worked at Volksbühne Berlin, Theater Bremen and Schauspiel Köln. At the latter she was part of the collective that curated the “Britney”, the open-air theatre on Offenbachplatz, in the 2016/2017 season. On the strength of her productions, Karabulut has been invited to the radikal jung festival three times and was awarded the Nachspielpreis from the Heidelberger Stückemarkt. For her production of “Endstation Sehnsucht (Final Destination: Longing)” performed at the Volkstheater in Vienna, she was nominated for the Nestroy Prize in 2019. Karabulut accentuates strong female figures in her work, carving out the female perspective in a powerful and radical way. Since 2020, she has been part of the Artistic Directional Team at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Her production “Like Lovers Do (Memoirs of Medusa)” has been invited to the 2022 Berlin Theatertreffen.
