Peter Fricke

Peter Fricke is a Berliner with a Bavarian mother. His acting-studies at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich was followed by engagements at theatres in Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienna, Cologne and Berlin (including Rudolf Noelte’s production of “The Wild Duck” at Freie Volksbühne). Peter Fricke was awarded the honorary title of “Staatsschauspieler”. He directed shows in Düsseldorf and Hanover, among others. For several decades, he has been working on radio and as a narrator in films such as “Dogville” and “Manderlay” by Lars von Trier or “Amélie” and “Midnight’s Children”. Peter Fricke was seen in a wide variety of television productions. He runs his own series of audiobooks (buñuel-guenwald for Monarda/Naxos) and organises live readings both in Germany and abroad. In 2008, he received the German Audio Award for his contribution to “Die Ästhetik des Widerstands” by Peter Weiss. His most recent audiobook (“Michelangelo– Der Dichter”) is included in the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation (hr)’s list of best audiobooks. Peter Fricke performed the role of Father Shandy in a nine-part radio play series of “The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman” both for the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (which served as producer) and the Christmas programme of DLF, the German state public radio station.
