Dr Alexandr Azarkevitch is a dancer, choreographer, dance theorist and university lecturer. As a dancer, he worked for many years at state theatres in Eastern Europe and danced in classical and contemporary ballets, dance performances, musicals and operas. As a choreographer, he has created many choreographies for dance theatre, opera, musical and theatre stages in Poland and Germany, among other places. He was the initiator of the Dance (B.A.) programme at the Faculty of Arts, University of Humanities and Economics (AHE) in Lodz, Poland, where he served as dean of the Dance (B.A.) programme and professor. He is a lecturer at the University of Arts in Social Sciences, Ottersberg, in the Dance and Theatre in Social Sciences programme and cooperates with Polish universities. One area of his international choreographic and pedagogical work is the practical exploration of movement and dance in inclusive settings. He is the founder and artistic director of the inclusive dance theatre Öflingen. He has received numerous prizes and awards for his work.
