Ostap Manulyak is a Ukrainian composer, performer, editor, curator and organiser of a variety of artistic initiatives. He is assistant professor for composition at the Lviv National Music Academy where he also earned his doctorate. Born in Lviv in 1983, he studied composition at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Music Academy and participated in numerous masterclasses for contemporary music. He received two awards from the Gaude Polonia scholarship programme. He began studies in composition in 2006 and electro-acoustic music in 2011 in the Studio of Electroacoustic Music (SME) at the Academy of Music in Kraków. He was a Fullbright scholarship guest researcher at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) der Stanford University, California, during the academic year 2018/19.
Ostap Manulyak is the co-founder of the art association NURT, the director of the contemporary music festival for electro-acoustic music VOX ELECTRONICA and the Experimental Educational Studio of Electroacoustic Music (EESEM) at Lviv Music Academy as well as co-curator of the festival for audiovisual art TETRAMATYKA.
