Daniela Marcozzi is an international performing artist based in Berlin since 2015 where she founded “Marcozzi Contemporary Theater”. Her practice, blending performance and scientific research, lies on the “Urgency of Expression”, a source of unconditional energy, a poetic and transformative force. Pushed by cruel political events that shook up her life, such as the arrest of her roommates and close friends for being anarchists, in 2015 Daniela Marcozzi, with the help of Peter Rose, performer from NY and former student of Jerzy Grotowski, started a path of theoretical and physical studying of the effects of political power on the persons. Political power is understood by the author at first as power: before being political, power is pure power - strength - driving push. Besides political themes, she explores ecological identity crises in site-specific works and expeditions in nature and at sea. Daniela Marcozzi’s work contributes to new narratives of coexistence between humans and the environment.
