Anton Lukoszevieze

Cellist and inter-disciplinary artist and composer Anton Lukoszevieze is notable for his performances of contemporary, experimental and improvised music. He has performed concerti with the City of Birmingham Symphony, Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, as well as vocal ensembles Exaudi and King’s College Choir, Cambridge. Anton has premiered and commissioned new works for cello by a multitude of contemporary composers, including Christian Wolff, Christopher Fox, Amnon Wolman, Laurence Crane, Richard Ayres, Phill Niblock, Jennifer Walshe, Claudia Molitor, Rytis Mazulis and Zbigniew Karkowski. As a composer his work has been performed by An Assembly, Exaudi, Musica Nova, Tel Aviv, Mark Knoop, Rhodri Davies, Lucia Mense, Jennifer Walshe and Apartment House. In June 2009 he was awarded the Millennium Star, for services to Lithuanian culture, by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. In 2012 he was awarded a Royal Philharmonic Society Award for outstanding contribution to chamber music. Anton’s art work has been shown in the “The Wire Magazine”, Kaunas Biennial, New Art Project Space, London, Stephen Lawrence Gallery-London, Sammlung Essl, Vienna, Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius, Slade School of Fine Art-London, Chelsea College of Art & Design, London, Donaufestival, Krems and broadcast on BBC Radio Three’s “Hear and Now”. He is the founder and Director of Apartment House.
