Jazzfest Berlin: The film DREAM BABY DREAM celebrates its world premiere in Washington, D.C.
The experimental short film DREAM BABY DREAM, produced as part of Jazzfest Berlin 2025, celebrates its world premiere as one of 70 selected films from 18 countries at the LIMINALDance Film Festival in Washington, D.C., on 24 April. The German premiere will follow at the TANZRAUSCHEN Festival on move / move on in Wuppertal on 6 May. Further screenings have been confirmed at the Moers Festival on 25 May and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival on 1 July, amongst others.
The film DREAM BABY DREAM was developed, shot and produced over four months in autumn 2025 by a 10-member creative team of Berlin-based artists, musicians, choreographers and international filmmakers. Filming took place during the Jazzfest Community Week in late October 2025 at the Gropius Bau, the former Tegel Airport, and various locations throughout the Berlin-Moabit district.
In this 20-minute experimental film, 60 Berlin-based participants – including children, teenagers, adults, professional and non-professional artists from various disciplines – use music, movement, and poetry to explore pressing issues of our time: from the search for a sense of home and belonging to the ever present interplay of dream, utopia, and the trauma experienced by many members of Berlin’s migrant communities.
It features musicians from the specially commissioned transcultural ensemble Moabit Imaginarium, children from two Moabit day care centres, young performers from the post migrant TheaterX / Platform Migration Matters and the dancer Milton Camilo.
