Sapphire Slows

Uncomfortable whisperings accompanying rattling beat skeletons: This is how one might describe the music of producer and singer Kinuko Hiramatsu from Tokyo. She goes by the name of Sapphire Slows and has just released her album “Allegoria” on the Californian house label Not Not Fun. On a first hearing, her songs seem urban and glittering, but underneath there is a murky pool of bewildering appetites and disturbing desire.
