Forced Entertainment: Complete Works: Table Top Shakespeare © Vlatka Horvat
A charming and ostentatious idea. The entirety of Shakespeare’s canon. All 36 plays. As told by Forced Entertainment. And, to make the whole thing a little more difficult: one performer, one metre table and 40 minutes per play. No one tells stories as brilliantly, lightly and wittily as this Sheffield company. Time and again, they have given us the greatest shows in the most minimal of settings, and ever since their first story-telling marathon “And on the 1000th Night”, they have been counted among the greatest experts for long formats. This time, one by one, over nine days at the Foreign Affairs Festival, Forced Entertainment performers create condensed versions of every Shakespeare play ever written, comically and intimately retelling them using a collection of everyday unextraordinary objects.
