Proust 3: De kant van Charlus (Charlus’ Way) © Pan Sok
The story of a young man and his rites of passage into the world of love, the aristocracy and art. Guy Cassiers sets out on a theatrical journey of discovery through the universe of Proust’s novels. In “Proust 3: Charlus’ Way”, the central figure Marcel comes into contact with the homosexual Baron de Charlus and the world of the Parisian aristocracy.
In this part, visual technologies not only provide us with insights into the mental world of the characters but also function as a metaphorical mirror of the greatness and decadence of a society that derives its essence of life from the dynamics of seeing and being seen, from social voyeurism and exhibitionism.
