German premiere
Urlo (Cry) © Franco Lannino / Studio Camera Palermo
The theatre of the Italian author, actor and director Pippo Delbono is a theatre in the first person, inspired by personal experience. “Urlo” means cry or scream, but also a form of unarticulated protest against the power of an oppressor – sometimes high society, sometimes the Catholic church. Like “Il Silenzio”, which the Compagnia Pippo Delbono presented in Berlin two years ago, this latest piece is a phantasmagorical sequence of images, a seemingly endless parade of Felliniesque splendour.
