Johannes Schrettle, Stefan Finke
Three friends smuggle heroin onto a Spanish island in order to finance a sort of humanitarian project there. “Your project loves you” (working title) is a moving sketch of the life of a generation permanently occupied with creating new concepts for itself without knowing what their theme or purpose should be.
Johannes Schrettle, born in 1980, studied German, Spanish, French, sociology and journalism. Together with the authors cooperative “Eigenbau” (Self-Made) of Theater im Bahnhof (Graz) he worked on independent dramatic projects. In 2003 he took part in the Autorentage (‘authors’ days’) at Burgtheater Wien and developed his first own drama “fliegen / gehen / schwimmen” (to fly / to walk / to swim), for which he was awarded the ‘Grabbe Preis der Stadt Detmold’ in 2004. “fliegen / gehen / schwimmen” will see its first performance in September 2005 in Osnabrück. Schrettle’s plays are published by Henschel Schauspiel.
The long and bloody tradition of the Hümmel butchery business is threatened by the latest economic and family developments. The play “Hümmel Country Butchers” casts a humorous and surreal eye on contemporary social problems in the German provinces.
Stefan Finke, born in 1963 in Düsseldorf, is the author of prose and scenic texts. He studied empirical cultural sciences and general rhetorical sciences at Tübingen University and attended several seminars on creative writing at ETH Zurich. In 1994, he obtained the certificate of ‘Studio Literatur und Theater’ of Tübingen University, and in 2002 received his diploma at Deutsches Literaturinstitut der Universität Leipzig. Stefan Finke has written several radio plays, among others for radio stations WDR, BR, SWR and RB. His short prose has been published in anthologies, magazines and broadcast on radio. In 1995 he was awarded the Foglio Prize for Literature. He lives and works in Cologne.
