The independent dramatists’ scene will introduce itself and its initiatives: At the panel discussion, the associations Neues Institut für Dramatisches Schreiben, WIENER WORTSTAETTEN, Netzwerk Münchner Theatertexter*innen as well as Verband der Theaterautor*innen will talk about the importance of communal spaces for creating strong theatre texts.
Initiatives like Neues Institut für Dramatisches Schreiben in Berlin, Netzwerk der Münchner Theatertexter*innen or WIENER WORTSTAETTEN have created spaces that are dedicated to a progressive, aesthetic and political analysis of writing for the stage. Through workshops, theatre talks, experimental writing projects and long-term support of play developments, a well-connected community of authors has emerged, united by their commitment to critical issues of our times and the search for appropriate forms. At times they co-operate with theatres, but they also try out new connections with literary institutions or unusual venues to explore new possibilities of dramatic art – enhancing its significance in the public perception.
Most of the outstanding and successful plays were developed in drama-labs of this nature. This event is an introduction: To the reasons why they were founded. To the objectives they are following. And to some of their projects, plays and topics.
