Shasha Chen
Shasha Chen ist eine chinesische Komponistin, Multimedia-Künstlerin und Performerin, die derzeit in den USA lebt. Ihre Musik und künstlerischen Arbeiten wurden bei Festivals, Konzerten und Ausstellungen in den USA, Kanada, Europa und China präsentiert. Chen hat mit Ensembles wie dem Talea Ensemble, loadbang, International Contemporary Ensemble, LIGAMENT, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Phoœnix Basel, Ensemble NEKO3 und weiteren zusammengearbeitet. In ihrer Praxis nutzt Shasha kompositorische, interdisziplinäre und kollaborative Ansätze im Bereich des „konzeptuellen (neuen) Musiktheaters“, einen Ansatz, den sie stetig weiterentwickelt, um gesellschaftspolitische Themen wie Identität, Gender und Gewalt zu untersuchen.
Shasha Chen is a composer, multimedia artist and performer from China, currently living in the United States of America. Her music and artworks have been featured in festivals, concerts and exhibitions across the US, Canada, Europe and China. She has collaborated with ensembles including Talea Ensemble, loadbang, International Contemporary Ensemble, LIGAMENT, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Phoœnix Basel, Ensemble NEKO3 and others. In her work, Shasha utilises compositional, interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches within the form of ‘conceptual (new) music theatre’, a form she has been consistently cultivating, to examine socio-political topics such as identity, gender, and violence.
