The Australian pianist Geoffrey Douglas Madge was born in Adelaide in 1941. He studied with Clemens Leski in Adelaide and in Brussels with Eduardo del Pueyo as well as with Geza Anda and Peter Solymos. He performs worldwide as a soloist with the great works of the piano literature from Bach’s ‘Well-Tempered Clavier’ to contemporary composers. Some have written new works for him, e.g. Ernst Krenek and Konrad Boehmer. He is particularly interested in the music of 20th century composers who were denied the recognition they deserved due to racial or ideological persecution, such as Stefan Wolpe, Nikos Skalkottas, Arthur Lourié and Nikolai Roslawetz. He is the only pianist in the world to have been authorised by Kaikoshru Sorabji to perform the monumental ‘Opus Clavicembalisticum’.
