<p>On four themed days, curated by Saba-Nur Cheema and Meron Mendel, the Berliner Festspiele wishes to create a space for nuanced reflection without adopting reflex positions on one of what is assumed to be only two possible sides.</p>

<p>On 15 and 16 June the Berliner Festspiele will show a special guest production by the Israeli director Amos Gitai. His play &ldquo;House&rdquo;, which premiered at the La colline &ndash; th&eacute;&acirc;tre national in Paris in 2023, now receives its German premiere as part of our 4-day focus &ldquo;Reflexes &amp; Reflections. 7 October, the war in Gaza and the debate in Germany&rdquo; at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.</p>

<p>Considered one of the key works of modernism, it is a hundred years after the genesis of Igor Stravinsky&rsquo;s &ldquo;Le Sacre du Printemps&rdquo; that Sasha Waltz takes on the Mariinsky Theatre&rsquo;s offer to engage with this extraordinary piece of musical and dance history. Its title translates to &ldquo;The Rite of Spring&rdquo;.&nbsp;For this evening, it is accompanied by the &ldquo;Sc&egrave;ne d&rsquo;Amour&rdquo; from &ldquo;Rom&eacute;o et Juliette&rdquo; by Hector Berlioz and her choreography &ldquo;L&rsquo;Apr&egrave;s-midi d&rsquo;un faune&rdquo; to the music of Claude Debussy.</p>

The 10 Remarkable Productions 2024

<p>On 26 January, the Theatertreffen&rsquo;s jury of critics announced their selection of 10 remarkable productions for the 2024 Theatertreffen at a press conference. Our congratulations go to the nominated production teams and all participants! The programme will be published on 5 April.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Radical Playgrounds&rdquo;, an art parcours at the Gropius Bau, is spending eleven weeks exploring the differences between the concepts of play as competition and free play. Visitors are invited to walk and climb on the various installations and sculptures, to activate them and to shape the project collectively.</p>

<p>The massacre, hostage-taking and rocket attacks by Hamas have shaken us deeply. The grue-some attack on Israel on 7&nbsp;October left us stunned and initially lost for words.</p>

<p>Ren&eacute; Pollesch provided unforgettable moments at the Theatertreffen in 2002 with the invitation to his &ldquo;Prater-Trilogie&rdquo; parts 1 to 3 and in 2012 with &quot;Kill your Darlings! Streets of Berladelphia for unforgettable moments at the Theatertreffen, for which we are deeply grateful. Ren&eacute; Pollesch died suddenly and unexpectedly on 26 February at the age of 61. The 3sat recording of &ldquo;Kill your Darlings! Streets of Berladelphia&rdquo; is available in our media library until 27&nbsp;May 2024.</p>

<p>Berlin is known for its numerous &ldquo;Spielpl&auml;tze&rdquo; for kids, but the project &ldquo;Radical Playgrounds&rdquo; is a place where play gets serious.&nbsp;It arrives at Gropius Hain for eleven weeks like an itinerant, temporary funfair: both melancholic and light-hearted, sad and joyful, funny and serious.&nbsp;</p>

<h3>Nancy Holt:&nbsp;Circles of Light</h3>

<h4>22 March to 21 July 2024</h4>

<p>Over the course of five decades, Nancy Holt explored how we perceive our environment and how we attempt to understand our place on the surface of this planet. From March 2024, the Gropius Bau presents <em>Circles of Light</em>, the artist&rsquo;s most comprehensive survey exhibition in Germany to date. It includes film, video, photography, sound works, concrete poetry, sculptures and expansive installations as well as drawings and documentation from over 25 years.</p>

<h3>Pallavi Paul: How Love Moves</h3>

<h4>22 March to 21 July 2024</h4>

<p>With <em>How Love Moves</em>, the Gropius Bau presents the first major institutional solo exhibition of Pallavi Paul. As an artist and film scholar, Paul engages the camera as her primary tool to interrogate how regimes of &ldquo;truth&rdquo; are produced and sustained in public life. Through her multimedia practice spanning film, installation, performance, drawing, photography and writing, she negotiates the documentary not only conjured as film or image &ndash; but as an ecology of materials, networks, global alliances and systems<span><span>.</span></span></p>

The Berliner Festspiele organise a range of festivals and art exhibitions, concerts, dance and theatre performances, readings, lectures, debates and much more throughout the year. These events are presented at a range of locations across Berlin but are concentrated primarily at their own two venues: the Gropius Bau and the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
