Kanze Nō Theater

The Kanze Noh Theater in Tokyo is led by Kiyokazu Kanze, the 26th Grand Master of the Kanze School. He is a descendant of Kan’ami and Zeami, who brought Noh theatre to perfection in the 14th century. The Kanze Noh Theater consists of 23 distinguished Noh and Kyōgen performers representing contemporary Japan. Among them is Saburōta Kanze, the eldest son of the 26th Grand Master and a young Noh performer regarded as a leading figure of the next generation.
The Kanze Noh Theater presents high-quality, authentic Noh performances not only in Japan but worldwide, and has earned widespread acclaim. Particularly noteworthy are the sold-out performances the ensemble gave at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York 2016. In September 2026, the ensemble will tour Berlin, Munich, Brussels, and Cologne.
