Alla Zagaykevych

Alla Zagaykevych, born in 1966, is a Ukrainian composer of classical music, a performance artist, a curator for electro-acoustic music and a musicologist. She studied at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv and completed a composition course at IRCAM in Paris from 1995 bis 1996. She has taught at the National Music Academy of Ukraine since 1997 where she also founded the studio of electronic music. Her work includes symphonic, instrumental and vocal chamber music, electro-acoustic compositions, multimedia installations and performances, operas and film music. She has directed the projects Electroakustyka (since 2003) and EM-VISIA (since 2005) in Kyiv, is the president of the Association for Electroacoustic Music of Ukraine (since 2010) and was the curator of the Book Arsenal Festival (2017), the British Council Envision Sound Programme and the Dovzhenko Centre (2018–20). She was additionally a mentor at the international masterclass for acousmatic and electro-acoustic music “Sound around me” in Vienna. She is the author of musicological articles which have been published in specialist periodicals. She received the Golden Dzyga from the Ukrainian Film Academy for Best Composition in 2017.
