Armando Merino

Armando Merino, who was born in 1984 in Madrid, studied at the university of music in Barcelona, where he completed his orchestral studies in 2009. Following this, he completed graduate studies with Konrad von Abel in Munich and Arturo Tamayo in Lugano, and took part in master classes with Pierre Boulez, Eiji Oue and Salvador Mas, among others. In 2005 he founded the Barcelona-based Martinů Ensemble, conducting several premieres. He has conducted the festival orchestra Flauta Mágica in Málaga (Spain), the symphonic Orchesterschule in Gräfelfing (Munich), has led the Prinzregentenensemble in Munich since 2010 and became chief conductor of the Kinderphilharmonie München in 2011. He also became guest conductor of the Münchener Jugendorchester in the same year. In 2012 Merino had his debut in Berlin at the Festival Ultraschall with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and also became conductor and director of the newly founded choir Tebe Pojem Glockenbachensemble für spirituelle Weltmusik at the St. Martin am Glockenbach church. In addition, he is assistant conductor of the bayerische Philharmonie choir.
