Jara Nassar is a queer German Lebanese writer, performer and poet. Her work examines the violence that separates people and the strength that brings them back together again.
She writes stage plays, poems, essays and short stories in German and English, interwoven with Lebanese Arabic. Her theatre texts have been read at venues including the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, Schauspielhaus Bochum and the Pina Bausch Zentrum in Wuppertal. She celebrated her first world premiere production in 2025 with Baba Dein Herz, a play about being locked in and out in co-operation with the Ara Ara Collective.
Nassar firmly believes in the revolutionary potential of theatre, a belief that is repeatedly rekindled by her work in Lebanon and Palestine.
