Ensemble Dedalus

Founded in 1996 by Didier Aschour, Dedalus is a musical ensemble associated with the GMEA Centre National de Création Musicale d’Albi-Tarn. Specializing in open-instrumentation scores, Dedalus is organized as a collective in which arrangements, orchestrations and interpretations are developed collaboratively. Their repertoire ranges from classics of minimalism by composers such as Tom Johnson, Philip Glass to commissions from composers and includes recreations of works by interdisciplinary artists such as Moondog and Brian Eno. Defying traditional categories, the ensemble performs conceptual and sensitive music that is radical and captivating, subtle and powerful. Dedalus performs in France, Europe and North America at festivals and venues like Roulette in New York, Café Oto in London, AngelicA in Bologna, Sacrum Profanum in Krakow, Philharmonie de Paris, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Bozar in Brussels, L’Auditori in Barcelona and Festival d’Automne at Paris.

About fifteen CDs, acclaimed by international critics, have been published on the labels New World Record (US), Potlatch (FR), Brocoli (FR), Relative Pitch Records (US), Sub Rosa (BE) and Montagne Noire (FR).
