Diedrich Diederichsen

Diedrich Diederichsen is an essayist, cultural theorist, curator and journalist. In the 1980s, he was an editor at the magazines Sounds and Spex. Since 1992, he has taught at universities including Frankfurt am Main, Pasadena, Offenbach, Munich, Weimar, Giessen, Gainesville (Florida), St Louis, Los Angeles, Vienna and Bremen. From 1998 to 2007, he was a Professor at Merz Akademie in Stuttgart, and from 2006 to 2024 Professor of Theory, Practice and Communication of Contemporary Art at the Institute for Art and Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. His most recent publications include the essay collection Das 21. Jahrhundert (Kiepenheuer & Witsch) and Ästhetik im Planetarischen Zeitalter (Salon-Verlag). He lives in Berlin.
