Leonie Ziem was born in 1999 and studied Philosophy and Political Sciences in Leipzig and Berlin. She is currently studying Language Arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She has created short pieces and audio dramas with KOLLEKTIV WIEN. Her first stage play Kind aus Seide was awarded the SWR Kultur Radio Play Prize at the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2024. She spent autumn of the same year as Artist in Residence at Filmhaus Basel. For her second stage play Das große Gleichgültige she received the Playwriting Scholarship awarded by the Austrian Ministry of Culture in 2025. For work on her first novel, she also received the Start Scholarship awarded by the Austrian Ministry of Culture and the Literary Scholarship awarded by the Jürgen Ponto Foundation. She lives between Vienna and Berlin.
