Andre Bartetzki
Andre Bartetzki, born in 1962 in Berlin, studied sound engineering at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. During his studies, he began installing a studio for electro-acoustic music (STEAM), which he went on to head until 2002. From 1999-2004 he taught at the electronic studio (SeaM) of the Weimarer Musikhochschule and at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Together with Volker Straebel, he has been directing the TU Berlin’s Electronic Studio in the department of audio-communication since 2009. Beyond this, he has given courses on sound synthesis and algorithmic composition at different universities and colleges. In addition to his teaching activities, he works as a programmer, sound designer and sound engineer with sound artists as well as ensembles, soloists, composers and event organisers in the field of new music. His CMask software for algorithmic composition is used internationally and has served other programmers as a model for their own creations. His own musical and artistic projects involve sound and video installations. Between 1997 and 2004 he was a member of the board of the German Association for Electro-Acoustic Music (DEGEM) and was responsible for the publication of the DEGEM newspaper.
