playwright

A graduate of the Institut littéraire suisse and ENSATT (École nationale supérieure des arts et techniques du théâtre) in Lyon, Giulietta Mottini is a writer and literary critic. An Ernst Göhner Foundation fellow from 2019 to 2021, her artistic practice moves between poetry, prose, theatre and opera.

In 2025, she wrote the opera libretto for the OperaLab collective, Dernière expédition au pays des merveilles, staged at the Comédie de Genève. Continuing her work on the rewriting of literary classics, she is currently collaborating with director Alan Alpenfelt on a theatrical adaptation of The Odyssey, focusing on the transformation and contemporary reactivation of ancient myths, as well as on the role of the aoidoi at Greek banquets.

Alongside this work, she has begun a poetic and sonic mapping of European cities through her piece Ne surtout pas diminuer les nuisances, directed by the Buro d’Archi collective. She will continue this research in Berlin from July to December 2026, where she will be in residence with the support of a grant from the State of Vaud (Switzerland).
