Johannes Varwick

Johannes Varwick has been a professor of International Relations and European Politics at the University of Halle-Wittenberg since 2013 and, since 2024, has also served as president of the Wissenschaftliches Forum Internationale Sicherheit (WIFIS). Previously, he taught at the Universities of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Kiel, and Mexico City, among others, and worked in research and policy consulting on European security and foreign policy. His doctoral thesis on Security and Integration in Europe was awarded summa cum laude by the University of Münster in 1998.
