The “Club de Baile” is a temporary cultural center that will take over the Kassenhalle of Berliner Festspiele during the Performing Exiles Festival.
Run by artist Camila Malenchini in collaboration with Sharon Mercado Nogales and Inmensidades, the installation will feature a dance floor, performances, live music, DJ sets, lectures, food workshops, and a lot of queer Latinx couples dancing. Wonderful hosts and teachers from the territory will guide you. Salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia, guaracha, salay, and reggaeton. From festivals of chamamé to sonideros, the “Club de Baile” will embody dance, music, and cultural events from different latitudes of South America, becoming a space of encounter, entertainment, knowledge, and more. Evenings are hosted by Papi Patacon and followed by different couples dancing open classes, music, and performances. Stay tuned for the upcoming line-up!
“Sensación y sentimiento” is a graphic and textile craft market that is part of the “Club de Baile” (on 19, 21, 27 & 28 June, 18:00-23:00). Inspired by the desire of bringing the energy of Mexican tianguis, Chilean pacas, the Argentinean salada, and the Alto market in Bolivia, among many other Latin American markets, we invited migrant projects by Latin American and Global South artists to continue pushing to the front circular economies across all latitudes.
