A knot. A thread unraveled. A line transforming. A trace fleeting. A body. A shadow. A home ...
A rope follows a character in what could be an instant or an eternity of thoughts.
“I am knot” is a site-specific adaptation of a contemporary circus stage piece inspired by the poetry of Fernando Pessoa. The vertical rope, a circus requisite but also a mundane object, is used both in the air and on the ground and is explored as an object that gives rise to a multitude of forms, symbols and situations that convey the emotions, memories and dreams of a character who wanders eternally in the world of thought. The manipulation of the object creates a poetic universe that oscillates between obscurity and joy, between chaos and beauty, between tranquility and disquiet.
Ana Jordão is a performer, originally rooted in contemporary circus, but constantly in transit moving through the worlds of dance, improvisation and creative and academic research. She approaches movement practice beyond technicality, as a site for metaphor, for philosophy, as a strategy for understanding mobility in a broader sense, and as a tool for self-observation. It is the main tool she uses in her performances; she sees movement as a language to feed and diversify with an ongoing learning/living. Being a polyglot, her interest is in communication: between bodies, between bodies and objects, between a performer and the audience, between art forms.
