MaerzMusik 2025: Complete Programme Announced

The festival finale at Haus der Berliner Festspiele, further concerts and the additional programme have been published and are on sale. Festivalaccreditation starts today.

The complete programme of MaerzMusik 2025 is announced: further concerts in particular at silent green and Haus der Berliner Festspiele, as well as the additional programme with artist talks and an exhibition at daadgalerie.

New in the programme, are several solo performances focusing on voice: Composer, performer and media artist Pamela Z will present twelve of her own works and a composition by Meredith Monk with live electronic. In “CHAN: Sonnets and Devotions in the Wilderness” artist and fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Programme Susie Ibarra explores traditional Filipino love songs. Composer and singer Laura Bowler will premiere three multimedia solo pieces for singer and live electronics – composed especially for her – in the Kuppelhalle at silent green, while Ty Bouque will explore works for solo voice in the performance “Seated at the Throat”.

The programmes in the Kuppelhalle can be experienced as part of the events taking place at silent green in connection with trumpeter Marco Blaauw's “GlobalBreath” research project, which also includes two performances by TheMonochrome Project, an ensemble he founded. Also related to this theme are two new works by trumpeter and sound artist Mazen Kerbaj: “Lungless” and “From One War to Another” as well as Peter Jakober's composition “Little beauty”, which will be performed together with 50 to 80 amateur musicians on the long ramp to the betonhalle of silent green.

The participatory project “Salon of Touch” invites you to an immersive sound and touch experience at Haus der Berliner Festspiele. For the finale, entitled “I AM ALL EARS”, the audience can move freely on the stage of the Festspielhaus and explore the experience of listening anew with works by Wojtek Blecharz, Corie Rose Soumah, Pauline Oilveros, Tom Johnson, Sam Dunscombe, Jennifer Torrence and others – an ongoing quest of MaerzMusik festival.

The concerts already announced by MaerzMusik 2025 include the festival opening on 21 March with the music theatre “MELENCOLIA” by Brigitta Muntendorf, the solo performance of Joan La Barbara, the multidisciplinary performative works at Radialsystem by EnsembleNikel and the duo Nguyễn + Transitory and in the Sophiensælen by Ute Wassermann with Ariane Jeßulat, Christian Kesten, Milo Tamez, Fernando Vigueras, as well as the evening by Panayiotis Kokoras and the Ensemble Synaesthesis, which will provide a further outlook on the expanded possibilities of music. Percussion is the focus of three concerts: the performances of “Streik” by Enno Poppe and “POETICA” by Chaya Czernowin as well as the Berlin debut of the New York percussion and piano quartet Yarn/Wire.
