Convinced of the transformative power of dance, the choreographer Lia Rodrigues combines artistic work and humanitarian engagement. Dance, for her, is a basic form of human development. In her new piece, nine dancers follow the multi-layered meanings of the term “borda”, which is Portuguese for border and threshold, but also for hem or decoration. The performance not only invokes the distinction between groups and peoples, between the self and the other; the dancers also search for the possibilities and ambiguities of such interstices, intending to set the margins in motion, making them float and dance.
