The name of this unusual project comes from the story of Philoktetes who was stranded on the island of Lemnos on account of a festering, foul-smelling wound. For Emilio García Wehbi, Lemnos stands as a symbol for the anonymous inner zones of today’s major cities. His “urban intervention” consists of two phases. In an action on a given day, twenty-five hyperrealistic figures will be placed on various squares and streets around a given city. The intervention will be documented and all the resulting information shown in an exhibition in the garden of the Festspielhaus.
