Various specialists from the business of death describe the balancing act between unease and handicraft, piety and sarcasm which the inevitable has in practical experience. A former mayor who has re-trained as an innovative cremation entrepreneur, a passionate funereal speechmaker, an embalmer, a cemetery musician and a stonemason recount and enact scenes about the authentic aspect of the procedures. That this results in an oppressive evening at the theatre and not in a “dying with dignity” workshop lies in the clever use of simple means which the three directors employ to set the amateur actors on the stage. This play offers a multitude of perspectives on the subject of death, without lecturing or evaluating.
