Award Ceremony
Alfred Kerr Actors Prize: Wiebke Puls
3sat Award: Andreas Kriegenburg
Wiebke Puls was honoured for her exceptional performance as Kriemhild in “The Nibelungs” (director: Andreas Kriegenburg; Münchner Kammerspiele).
Founded in 1991 by the Kerr family and the Tagesspiegel Press Foundation, the award comes with € 5,000 and honours the exceptional performance of a young actor or actress with a role in one of the productions invited to the Theatertreffen. In recent years the prize has been awarded to Johanna Wokalek, Kathrin Angerer, Fritzi Haberlandt and Devid Striesow, among others.
This year’s juror, the actor Ulrich Matthes, selected Wiebke Puls: “She’s an extremist in the truest sentiment”.
Andreas Kriegenburg has been awarded the 3sat Prize at the Berlin Theatertreffen festival for his production of “The Nibelungs”. The jury members – Prof. Dr. Joachim Sartorius (Berliner Festspiele), Tobi Müller (member of the Theatertreffen jury and theatre critic from Zurich) and Wolfgang Bergmann (ZDF/3sat) – all agreed on the choice. The laudation was held by Tobi Müller.
3sat, the joint television channel of ZDF, ORF, SF DRS and ARD, donates the € 10,000-prize for a “performance pointing the way to the future” selected from the pool of artists invited to take part in the Theatertreffen. This year it was awarded for the ninth time.
