Two liberal families in modern Sweden are first brought together by an affair and then pulled apart again. ‘Skåne’ shows the stages of a failed love affair backwards, and at the same time explores the emotional collateral damage surrounding the lovers. Carter’s play is a stark exploration of human relationships – how people try to get along together, what happens between the lines when they speak to each other – and presents a panorama of the crises of modern relationships and life choices.
