In his theatre play “There Has Possibly Been An Incident” Chris Thorpe confronts his protagonists with scandalous political situations that force them to make unavoidable decisions. The archetypal immediacy, in which the atmosphere of each artfully interwoven conflict unfolds, robs the audience of all distance and automatically makes everyone an accomplice.

From Simon Stephens’ explanatory statement: “Chris Thorpe makes me want to be a better playwright. (…) He is a dramatist who understands the complicated chaos of human existence. This understanding forces him to be honest. But it never makes him judgemental. (…) His texts do not correspond to the traditional roles between play and production/performance. He’s more a theatre-maker than a dramatist.“
