A talk about power, responsibility and the possibility of change
As new cases of abuse of power come to light, demands for changes in the hierarchic structures of the theatre are raised once more. The participants of this talk will explore how this could be achieved.
Examples of abuse of power in the theatre are becoming more frequent, even though the diagnosis seems to have been determined ever since #MeToo: There is a structural power issue in the theatre. Initiatives like Burning Issues or ensemble-netzwerk clearly show that it is time to explore new forms of organisation in theatres. Therefore, Theatertreffen will host this democratic, self-moderating panel that will open itself to questions from all sides in order to negotiate new forms of democratisation, of the collective and of productive self-criticism.
