As part of the “Stückemarkt Revisited” format, the Theatertreffen regularly invites Stückemarkt alumni to present new works at the Stückemarkt and thus endeavours to provide sustainable and long-term support for young artists.
For “Estado Vegetal”, author and director Manuela Infante won the 2019 Stückemarkt Commission of Work, funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb. The world premiere production of her new play “Noise. Das Rauschen der Menge” at Schauspielhaus Bochum – written with and for the voice of actor Gina Haller – deals with noise, meaning sound, commotion, disruption and rumbling as a way of expressing political unrest. Based on the experience of nationwide protest against social inequality in Chile, for Manuela Infante noise is the sound of the many taking a resounding stand.
