I Can’t Believe I Still Have to Protest this Shit
How we (should) respond to structural abuses of power
Was 2021 a particularly bad year for abuses of power in the theatre because there were a particularly large number of drastic incidents? Or was it a good year because many incidents finally came to light and dealing with them all together made a change of culture visible? In any event it is clear that cases of the abuse of power, regardless of whether they concern racism, sexism or a toxic leadership style, do not only require a swifter response. It is also important to question present preventative strategies and sanction mechanisms. Because otherwise, if there is any doubt the same thing will keep on happening: nothing.

Rewrite. Write Off. Write New. What Do We Do with the Canon?
We are dealing with a dramatic canon, which now seems increasingly problematic in light of the ongoing debates about representation, gender images and (post-)colonial power relations? Can Goethe, Schiller, Kleist & co. still be saved? Or can we only move forward with new texts from new voices? This is discussed by two directors and a writer who have each looked for and found their own answers in their working processes.
