This award comes with a sum of 5,000 Euro and recognises an outstanding performance by a young actor in one of the productions invited to Theatertreffen. The prize will be awarded for the 27th time on the final weekend of the festival at Haus der Berliner Festspiele. In 2023, the juror is actor Edgar Selge.
The Alfred-Kerr-Acting-Award was initiated in memory of the Berlin theatre critic Alfred Kerr by his children Judith and Michael Kerr in 1991, together with Pressestiftung Tagesspiegel and Berliner Festspiele/Theatertreffen. It is offered by the Alfred Kerr Foundation with support from Berliner Festspiele. Further supporters are Verlag Der Tagesspiegel, the Hartung family and Gustav Kiepenheier Bühnenvertriebs-GmbH.
