Performing a simple physical act, Polish artist Anna Steller reflects on how exhausting support can be. But she does not stop, because as long as the Ukrainian people are fighting, ceasing to help is not an option.
“Odbicia | Bounces (Reflections)” is a conceptual performance by Anna Steller, which refers to the situation of war in Ukraine. Using a simple gesture of bouncing to the rhythm of the music of Ukrainian female rappers, the artist expresses her support for the fighters and for the Ukrainian nation plunged into war. On the one hand, we are dealing with a dance full of vital energy, which is also an invitation to the audience to jump together, and on the other hand, it is an exhausting exercise in survival for the artist and the audience. The performer’s dance brings hope, wakes up from stagnation, is an act of resistance against war.
Biography:
As a performer, Polish artist Anna Steller focuses mainly on the transparency and sincerity of her message and on radical artistic solutions. The interdisciplinarity of dance and performance is an area she has been exploring for years in an attempt to understand and communicate important content and concepts to audiences.
