Beryl Korot

Born in 1945 in New York, Beryl Korot is a painter and video art pioneer. Her works have been shown in North America and Europe. In 1977, she was invited to documenta 6 in Kassel. It was with “Radical Software” (1970) that Beryl Korot established herself as a theoretician of video art early on. One of her most highly regarded works is the video installation “Dachau 1974”, which addressed the Holocaust using only sounds and video art but no words, a novelty at the time. She created the video art for American composer Steve Reich’s video operas “The Cave” (1993) and “Three Tales” (2002). Beryl Korot’s imagery has reached an international audience in countless performances.
