Conference
Conference from 9 to 11 September 2005
Turkey has undergone rapid change over the last 10 years, affecting almost all areas, with the urban centres, with Istanbul at the forefront, being the most affected. On the occasion of the art exhibition “Urban Realities: Focus on Istanbul” at the Martin-Gropius-Bau, the conference “Model Turkey?” deals with the opening up of Turkish society since the 1990s. One result is the emergence of a modern art scene in Istanbul and the growing attractiveness of the Turkish metropolis for international artists.
