The new politics of civil society is based on a desirable future, the old one on the status quo. Thinking from the future opens up new possibilities, thinking from the status quo systematically restricts them to what we already know. This is precisely how the ability to resist arises: to assert the better possibilities of the future against the worse possibilities of the present. This book is a guide for this: Harald Welzer, perhaps the country's most consistent thought leader, writes against the lack of vision and imagination of so-called realpolitik. And shows how many concrete and attractive possibilities there are to take oneself seriously again and become political. The first step is to think for yourself!
Harald Welzer, geboren 1958, ist Direktor von FUTURZWEI. Stiftung Zukunftsfähigkeit und Professor für Transformationsdesign an der Universität Flensburg. Daneben lehrt er an der Universität Sankt Gallen. In den S. Fischer Verlagen sind von ihm erschienen: „Opa war kein Nazi. Nationalsozialismus und Holocaust im Familiengedächtnis“ (zus. mit S. Moller und K. Tschuggnall, 2002); „Täter. Wie aus ganz normalen Menschen Massenmörder werden“ (2005), „Klimakriege. Wofür im 21. Jahrhundert getötet wird“ (2008), „Soldaten. Protokolle vom Kämpfen, Töten und Sterben“ (zus. mit Sönke Neitzel, 2011) und zuletzt der „FUTUR¬ZWEI-Zukunftsalmanach 2013“. Seine Bücher sind in 21 Ländern erschienen.
